Oahu Population

The 2000 census conducted in the area displayed that the total population of Oahu was 876,151 and this was actually the entire population of the county of Honolulu. There were very few people who lived on the island outside the County of Honolulu. The island has a total population of about 900,000 people and 75% of these are permanent residents of the state of Hawaii within the United States of America.

 
 

The reason for the outburst of population in this locality is based on many incidents and co incidences. The name of Oahu is translated in English and it is called the gathering places and perhaps is the reason for the increased density of the population in the area.

The overall population make up of the place is generally like the rest of the island of Hawaii and comprises of a mixed blend of people. There are the native Hawaiians which make up most of the population of Hawaii and the rest is is made up of different people who have migrated into the area ever since its development. These include the Asians, African as well as Hispanics and Europeans of several origins that have come and settled here over the period of years.

The general population of Oahu comprises of mostly families and the nine hundred thousand people are distributed in many thousand households. There is also an increase in population density in this place as compared to the other areas of the Hawaiian Islands and this makes it one of the 20 large states of the United States of America. Oahu is located in the Eastern part of the Hawaiian Islands and makes up almost all of the Honolulu County. According to the United States Census bureau there are merely 114.98 people that reside outside of the County of Honolulu within the island of Oahu and thus this forms the hub of the population of the Hawaiian Islands as well as forms the center of power, administration and activity.
