Another specialty of the island of Oahu is the food. There are a lot of places where you can go to eat. They range in the hundreds. In a lot of the restaurants the main type of dishes which are available are sea food and similar dishes. One of the reasons why this is so is sea food is readily available. Besides that it is also available in plentiful quantities. Other types of food which are common depend on how much of it is produced locally. These include the Hawaiian tropical fruits which are very famous. Asian bakeries, authentic Japanese noodle shops, and other specialty ethnic foods have also made a strong presence on the island of Oahu. There are some very good dining places situated in Chinatown which are very good but reasonably priced. Cuisine styles from Asia and Chinese food are offered.

The major urban center of the island of Oahu is the area known as Greater Honolulu. Most of the entertainment venues, restaurants, and accommodations are located here. The commercial and tourism centers of the island are also present here. One of the many special areas of the island of Oahu is Pearl Harbor. This area consists of some World War Two memorials which are very popular, and also consists of the naval base which is very famous as well. Another special area is the Waikiki Beach. This beach front area consists of a number of restaurants, hundreds of hotels, tons of shopping, and various entertainment venues as well.
